A few weeks back there were rumors that Apple had roped Lakers’ legend Kobe Bryant to test out its new wearable device. Bryant was also spotted out and about at Apple’s HQ in Cupertino, California. As expected there was endless speculation about the purpose of his visit and neither the company nor Bryant’s camp said anything about the visit. In a new interview Bryant himself reveals that he did indeed spend a day at Apple, interacting with design czar Jony Ive to “talk product.”

Hold your horses there, Bryant isn’t confirming that Ive strapped an iWatch to his wrist and ran some tests. He doesn’t even say if their interaction had anything to do with a future Apple product.

Instead, Bryant explains that he was “picking his [Ive’s] brain” about how he can be better at what he does. Surely one can’t think that Ive would have tips that would improve the Lakers’ legend’s shooting percentage, but Bryant said that their talk made sense because there are some “common denominators” when it comes to success, , adding that “Jony wanted to know how do I prepare.”

So there you have it. Kobe Bryant isn’t a test subject for Apple’s mind-blowing smartwatch, at least he’s not confirming it. The iWatch is believed to be fitness focused but we’ll have to wait and see how it delivers on that since Apple hasn’t even hinted if its going to release a smartwatch anytime soon.
