lenovo-thinkpad-8-review-11According to our report yesterday, it was suggested that Lenovo would be pulling out of the US market for its small-size tablets, namely the ThinkPad 8 and the Miix 2. Fortunately for those who are fans of Lenovo’s smaller-size products, it turns out that it was not true. Lenovo’s Executive Director of External Communications for Lenovo, Ray Gorman, released a new statement clarifying the matter.

According to Gorman, “We will continue to bring new Windows devices to market across different screen sizes, including a new 8-inch tablet and 10-inch tablet coming this holiday. Our model mix changes as per customer demand, and although we are no longer selling ThinkPad 8 in the U.S., and we have sold out of Miix 8-inch, we are not getting out of the small-screen Windows tablet business as was reported by the media.”

He also adds, “In short, we will continue to sell both 8 and 10 inch Windows tablets in both the U.S. and non-U.S markets.” To be fair, Gorman’s earlier statement did not explicitly mention they were pulling out of the market. He had noted that smaller tablet interest was stronger in countries like Brazil, China, and Japan.

He also mentioned that Lenovo would be adjusting its inventory to meet those demands, which we guess could have also been interpreted as Lenovo losing interest and pulling out of the US market. In any case like we said, if you were looking forward to small tablets of the 8-inch variety from Lenovo, fret not because there are newer models on its way.
