ipad mini

In a few months Apple is going to unveil its new smartphones and tablets. This year the company’s third iPad mini is going to be released. Last year it updated the tablet with a Retina display and a faster processor. Rumor has it that this time around there’s a big change coming. The tablet’s moniker will apparently be changed to Air primarily due to the fact that it is going to be 30 percent thinner than its predecessor. Apple crowned the 9.7-inch iPad with the Air moniker last year so it wouldn’t be a surprise if it did the same with the iPad mini.

Rumors coming in from China claim that since the tablet is going to be 30 percent thinner Apple is going to call it the iPad Mini Air. It is also said to feature the A8 processor which is expected to be present in all mobile devices that Apple releases this fall.

The existing iPad mini with Retina display comes in at 7.5mm and if this rumor is true the tablet may come down to just 5.25mm. This would certainly make it one of the thinnest tablets available in the market.

This September Apple is expected to unveil its new iPhones, which are also expected to be thinner than their predecessors. A month of so after that the company’s new tablets will be up for launch and only then will we really know just how thin and powerful they really are.
