nokia-lumia-1020-review-12The Nokia Lumia 1020 was released last year, but if a recent rumor by @evleaks is anything to go by, the handset is expected to reach its end of the life status come 14th of September. What this means is that Microsoft will not be placing any additional orders for new units from their suppliers, or if they do, it will be in limited quantities.

It also means that retailers might stop stocking the handset as well, so if you still had your eye on the device, you might want to hurry up and get your hands on it before they are completely sold out. Of course Microsoft has yet to make an official announcement so do take it with a grain of salt for now, but given that the Lumia 1020 has been around for a year, we guess it is time for an upgrade.

It is unclear which handset will be replacing the Lumia 1020 or if Microsoft has plans to keep churning out similar devices, so we guess we will just have to keep our eyes peeled for more information. So far in terms of smartphone cameras, the Lumia 1020 has proven itself time and time again to be one of the top performers.

So much so that the handset has been chosen to be used as a camera to document an underwater diving mission, even used as a microscope, and has also been used to shoot the entirety of Ellie Goulding’s music video, proving that its optics is more than capable of handling itself in a professional situation.
