s4 active damagedBack in 2013, Samsung announced a rugged device called the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active. The device more or less shared similar specs with the Galaxy S4, with the main differences being that the Galaxy S4 Active had rugged features, such as an IP67 rating which made the handset both water and dust resistant.

However exactly how rugged are we talking about? Well one particular user on Reddit, yapinjapin1, told a story of how his friend dropped his Galaxy S4 Active while mowing the lawn. The phone went under the mower and despite the machine running at full speed, it seems that the handset managed to survive.

“The phone was hit by the blade and took a slice out of the top right corner. The phone still is operational, the music did not stop playing and the screen functions properly. The screen has hairline cracks down the whole screen but they are not very visible when the phone is on,” he claims.

As you can see in the image above, the Galaxy S4 Active handset certainly appears to have been brutalized by the blades of the lawn mower, but yet somehow clung onto life! What do you guys say? Are you impressed by the durability, and do you have any such close shaves yourself?
