Sprint today released a new software update for last year’s LG flagship smartphone. It brings one of the features that the company touted on the G3 when it was unveiled back in May. Called Knock Code, the feature lets users unlock the device when it is in sleep mode by tapping on predefined locations on the display. This feature first debuted on the G Pro 2 and with today’s software update it is finally coming to Sprint’s LG G2.
The obvious advantage for users is that they no longer have to wake up the display first before they can get access to the device. Simply selecting the tapping locations is all they need to do. Once it has all been set up, unlocking the device becomes really quite easy.
The software update from Sprint carries the odd “ZVD” version identified. It has already started rolling out to users but the way Sprint releases updates would require users to wait patiently. The update is coming out in stages so it will take its sweet time before it becomes available across all regions.
This should take more than a couple of days though so don’t worry you won’t have to wait for that long. Sprint has already updated the LG G2 with Spark LTE support and rolled out the KitKat update for it back in March.
