Microsoft today released software updates for its latest tablet the Surface Pro 3. The aim of these updates is to improve usability of features as well as improve the overall stability of the system. Initially it was reported last week that the company would soon be releasing new software updates for Surface Pro 3. The first round of those updates is now out.

One of the improvements that users will immediately notice after downloading the new updates is that the battery life will be improved. The company claims that this particular update reduces power consumption and enhances system stability as well as efficiency and reliability in low power states.

An update for the Type Cover firmware will improve reliability of the trackpad as well as system stability, this also helps the on-screen keyboard appear and disappear at the correct times. The updates also reduce power consumption by the Bluetooth and wireless network controller in low power states, some Wi-Fi connection scenarios have also been improved.

We reported recently that many Surface Pro 3 users were facing networking issues with their new tablet. Microsoft did say that it had taken note of the issues and will fix them through software updates. The company also promises that it will issue an update on July 16th that will further improve Wi-Fi connection on the tablet so that should take care of the issues once and for all.

These updates are available for download through Windows Update on the Surface Pro 3 itself.
