Earlier this week we picked up on a rumor that claimed Verizon would have dibs on Sony’s latest and greatest tablet. Big Red confirmed it today. The Sony Xperia Z2 tablet is exclusive to Verizon in the U.S. The carrier will start taking pre-orders for the Xperia Z2 tablet from tomorrow. It will be available in Verizon stores nationwide from July 17th.

Weighing less than a pound and measuring just 0.25″ slim the Xperia Z2 tablet not only has a 10.1-inch scratch resistant display but also happens to be waterproof. Under the hood there’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 2.3Ghz quadcore processor with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. The 4G LTE capable variant of the Xperia Z2 tablet is exclusive to Verizon in the U.S. Users will be able to tap unto Big Red’s nationwide LTE network with this tablet. The 6,000mAh battery ought to hold up well during extended browsing sessions even on cellular.

Pre-orders can be placed from tomorrow on Verizon’s website. Those who get their pre-orders in will receive a MDR-NC31EM Noise Cancelling headset for free while supplies last. The Sony Xperia Z2 tablet will also be available from Verizon retail stores, select retailers and dealers from July 17th for $599 or $499 with a two year contract.
