via viegaMost of the time when we think about tablets, we think about how sleek they need to be, we think about its specs and features, like how powerful it is, what kind of camera does it have, what resolution is its display, and so on. However not everyone needs such a powerful tablet. Some people actually prefer durability over performance.

Well if you’re that sort of person who needs a rugged tablet, you might be interested to learn that VIA has recently announced their new Viega tablet. The tablet has been IP65 certified, meaning that it should be able to resist both dust and water, although given its rating we reckon you probably shouldn’t go deep sea diving with it.

The tablet also has vibration protection which will allow it to withstand drops and will also sport a tempered and shatter-resistant glass screen. In terms of hardware specs, there really isn’t much to shout about. the VIA Viega tablet will feature a 10-inch display and a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. It will be accompanied by 1GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage, and will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

The tablet will also feature a variety of ports, including 2 micro USB ports, a micro HDMI port, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and GPS. There will also be a 3G option along with stereo speakers, a 5MP rear-facing camera, and a 2MP front-facing camera.
