gdr-chassisConsidering how a fair number of Windows Phone smartphone owners are starting to be on the receiving end of the Windows Phone 8.1 update, it is not surprising to find out that Microsoft themselves are already working on a new update. After all, remaining stagnant is one of the best ways to fall behind the competition, don’t you think so? Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1 has not managed to keep itself hidden from view of the masses, but we do not yet have a definitive release date at the moment. Well, it appears as though the chassis requirements for Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1 have been revealed on the OEM Developers site which depicts a number of changes that are set to arrive.

It goes without saying that some of the changes that are on their way will remain standard in nature, others do seem to take away some of the more stringent requirements. Chances are with the lowered entry requirements, we could very well see the possibility of additional lower-end devices that run on Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1 in the future.

Not only that, upcoming devices are said to provide support for qHD (960 x 540 pixels) resolution with the inclusion of proximity sensors. Not only that, the dedicated camera button ought to eventually appear as an option on upcoming devices, while future devices look set to have a 1080p Full HD cap since higher resolutions displays will not be supported in GDR1 in all probability.
