gta5Grand Theft Auto V is a hot game and there’s no doubt about it. This is probably largely thanks to its predecessors that created a huge fan base for it, and we guess the wait in between GTA 4 and GTA 5 helped increase the game’s hype and gamers’ anticipation for it. In fact back in 2013 when the game launched, Rockstar managed to make $800 million in the first 24 hours.

This helped the developers recoup their money where they reportedly spent $265 million to make the game. That being said, how many units of the game has Rockstar managed to ship so far? Well according to Take-Two Interactive’s earnings call, it seems that they have managed to ship a whopping 34 million units of the GTA 5 to date.

That’s a lot of copies! However we should point out that shipping figures don’t necessarily translate into sales. After all retailers could simply be sitting on a ton of unsold inventory, which hardly amounts to sales for Rockstar. However the volume that Rockstar shipped probably took into account the demand for the game, which is still pretty impressive nonetheless.

In any case we expect that Take-Two and Rockstar can look forward to even higher sales and larger shipping numbers, as it was revealed that GTA 5 will be arriving for next-gen consoles like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and the PC later this year.
