carplay-chinaIt is said that patents and trademarks are part of an arsenal in any company that is worth building up a sizeable collection. It makes perfect sense after all – you would not want someone to take what you have done and make it as their own, would you? For those who have been following Apple’s trademark adventures from time to time, you would realize that the Trademark Office in Hong Kong China has already published a trademark application from Apple which touches on a new iOS icon. In fact, the latest trademark does point to Apple’s upcoming CarPlay.

This particular trademark application number in China by the Cupertino company is known as 303083742. It is said that the first time Apple filed such a trademark was in Jamaica earlier this January. Documentation of this particular filed trademark points to it being placed under International Class 009.

A few months after CarPlay was announced by Apple, it has certainly grown from strength to strength, or so it seems. In fact, it was at the beginning of last month that we saw how Apple’s CarPlay saw more partners signing up, and it was even demonstrated in a Hyundai not too long ago.
