So the Samsung Galaxy S5 is one smartphone that is able to handle the ice bucket challenge and walk away from it unscathed, but when it comes to toughness, I am quite sure that even the most hardened skeptic when it comes to rugged handsets will take their hats off to the Bartec Pixavi Impact X. Yes, let us call this the Impact X for short, as it can be quite a mouthful to roll off our tongues. The Impact X is no ordinary water-resistant smartphone, as it is capable of holding its own even in the event of an explosion, now how about that?

The Impact X is an aluminum-clad smartphone that is dust- as well as waterproof (according to the IP68 standards), but it is also more than capable of surviving a straight drop to the ground from a height of 2 meters – without suffering from any kind of negative damage, of course. There is that 2mm Gorilla Glass screen (sorry, no sapphire glass here) that has been custom made for the smartphone, and it can also handle great temperature amplitudes.

Basically, the Impact X was developed to target those who happen to earn a living while spending their time in extremely hazardous environments. Not only that, IECEx and ATEX Zone 1 certifications translate to it falling under the explosion-proof category, which means your smartphone might actually outlive you. The asking price? Anywhere from $1,000 to $1,200, although availability remains a mystery at the moment.
