Swatting, for those who might not have heard of it, is a term used to describe a dangerous “prank” where someone will call the cops and claim that there is an incident going on at another person’s house, after which law enforcement could call SWAT teams over to check it out and to diffuse the situation.

It is dangerous because people could potentially get hurt in the process, but unfortunately despite the police’s best efforts, it seems that swatting is still a relatively common occurrence in the gaming community. A recent incident took place and this time the gamers who were targeted managed to film it on their live feed on Twitch.

Basically what happened is that a group of gamers call The Creatures were streaming their game of Counter-Strike on Twitch when they were abruptly interrupted by a real-life SWAT team. According to a news reports, the entire building was evacuated. This took place in Littleton, Colorado and according to the Littleton Police Department, “The caller claimed to have shot two co-workers, held others hostage, and threatened to shoot them. He stated that if the officers entered he would shoot them as well.”

They added, “There were no victims or any evidence that a shooting had taken place. If the investigation determines that today’s incident was a hoax, those involved will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.” We can’t imagine what it would be like to be in their position, but scary seems to get a good place to start. In the meantime you can check out the video above to see the entire incident in action.
