Bungie’s upcoming title has surely made almost every gamer very anxious. Gamers can hardly wait for it to be released and by the looks its appears that Activision’s $500 million investment will reap substantial returns. Preorders for certain limited edition units are currently being taken, Best Buy may have taken more than it can actually ship out, which means that the retailer is now cancelling those orders.

Word about this first broke on the Destiny subreddit where multiple posters confirmed that they had received an email from Best Buy informing them that their limited edition preorder was being cancelled as they have exceeded the quantities that will be made available to the retailer once the game actually launches.

Best Buy isn’t dealing with the immense rush for Destiny alone. Some other major retailers like Walmart have also been forced to cancel preorders on the valuable Ghost Edition because evidently the supply doesn’t seem to cover the entire demand.

In order to make things up Best Buy is telling these customers through email that they will receive a $50 discount if the game is now purchased online, the Digital Guardian Edition or the Standard Edition to be precise, with the discount being valid until October 31st, 2014.

On September 9th Destiny will finally be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and the Xbox One. Those who didn’t preorder their copy of the game may now have to wait until after the launch just to get their hands on a copy.
