evolve-release

Evolve’s developer bills it as one of this year’s “defining” games for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One but that statement no longer holds any weight. It has been confirmed today that Evolve release for PS4 and Xbox One has been delayed, in fact that release has been pushed out from 2014 altogether and now we must wait until 2015 to get our hands on it.

The co-op shooter is being developed by Turtle Rock Studios which was behind Left 4 Dead. This title was originally scheduled for release on October 21st and barring any further delays Evolve will now be released on February 10th, 2015.

2K Games’ parent company Take-Two made the delay public as part of the announcement of its financial results for the quarter. 2K Games had previously said that this would be a “defining” game for next generation consoles this year and even won the top prize at E3 2014 Game Critics Awards.

In a conference call with investors following the quarter’s results Take-Two revealed that it had decided to delay Evolve’s release so that Turtle Rock could have more time to polish the title. For now Evolve has only been confirmed for next-gen consoles and the PC, it has not been confirmed if the title will make it to the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.
