free with gold

It has been widely reported today that Microsoft is testing a new free Xbox Live game download program. Apparently it would have only been offered to Xbox Live members, it would have allowed Xbox owners to download and try out additional titles from Microsoft for a limited time. Some viewed it as an extension of the Xbox Live feature that lets gamers add free titles to their libraries each month. Microsoft has been quick to point out the truth in this scenario, it claims that the posting was actually an error.

The posting, which read “Free Play Day with Gold,” was first discovered under the Xbox One’s Games with Gold section. An Xbox Live Gold account would have been required to access it and apparently gamers would have been given full access to the title for an entire day before they were told to purchase it.

Microsoft acknowledged when this was spotted however its official statement on the matter isn’t going to make Xbox One owners happy. The company says that this was posted on the U.S. dash “in error,” and apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused.

The company also said that it is constantly exploring different ways to offer additional benefits to Xbox Live Gold members and when special offers become available it will notify them.
