hp-streamIt was just a couple of days ago when we talked about how hardware specifications of an alleged $199 Chromebook was spotted, but it does look as though this particular 14” HP Chromebook is not going to run on Chrome OS after all. Instead, for $199 a pop, you will find Windows 8.1 as the operating system of choice instead as it hits store shelves later this coming Christmas. At that price point, do expect to see this bad boy fly off the shelves in due time.

After all, where else are you going to get a full fledged, functioning Windows-powered notebook that costs just $199, which would make it rival the price tag of a Chromebook? After all, the advantages of the Windows ecosystem are too numerous to mention in comparison to Chrome OS, and it could be a first exposure for those who would want a Windows-powered notebook that places plenty of emphasis on the cloud.

In fact, with the HP Stream, one will be able to install the likes of iTunes on it, or even Steam so that you can play some of your favorite games while you are on the road – at low resolution settings, of course, considering at that price point, you are not going to get too much graphical processing power in the first place.
