The proverbial gauntlet has been thrown, and as Samsung’s Galaxy S5 underwent the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge the other day, it looks as though there are other handsets that are stepping up to the challenge, where the HTC One (M8) as well as the Nokia Lumia 930 are the ones who will meet up with this freezing clarion call as you can see from the video above. Of course, the Galaxy S5 offering from Samsung holds a distinct advantage from these two models, considering the Galaxy S5 packs an IP67 certification, which allows it to remain underwater up to a meter for 30 minutes without emerging scarred.

As for the HTC One (M8), this particular model would arrive with an IPx3 certification, which means there is no protection at all from the likes of dust, although it can handle water being sprayed at it up to 60 degrees at 10l per minute, with a pressure of 80-100kN/m2 for up to 5 minutes. As for the Lumia 930, it is not even safe against the likes of splashes, which makes it a less than ideal candidate for the Ice Bucket Challenge.

Ego comes into play here, and as the video has shown, it looks as though the HTC One (M8) and the Nokia Lumia 930 were able to walk away from such a challenge without having their circuitry getting all shot up.
