iphone-5s-review-005

As expected Apple Retail Stores across the country have now started to replace broken iPhone 5s screens on-site. This saves both time and money for users as previously they had to send the damaged unit back to Apple for servicing and replacement. That process could take anywhere from five days to a week. On-site iPhone 5s screen replacements take no more than an hour and are done using a special machine which ensures that the replacement job is done in the best possible way.

This service is currently limited to Apple Retail Stores in the U.S. however there have been reports that not all stores are participating in this just yet. Availability of on-site replacements is not guaranteed for all Apple stores in the country just yet.

Before Apple Store representatives take the iPhone 5s in for screen repair they evaluate the unit first. Owners are provided with an estimate which is calculated by determining how the device was damaged and whether or not it is covered under AppleCare+. They’re likely to pay around $150 for a repair, but its significantly less than the usual $270 charge for off-site replacements.

The units are also checked for other hardware failures and water damage to ensure if an off-site repair is needed or not. Once the owner agrees with the estimate the replacement work begins. Store technicians are believed to use the same machine that is used for handling iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c repairs, it perfectly aligns and installs the replacement screen.
