iphone web use 640x521According to recent figures released by NetApplications, it showed that Android had finally overtaken iOS users in terms of mobile usage, but that’s looking at iOS and Android overall which includes tables. But what if we were to break it down further by device and separate it by region?

Well that’s what the folks at Chitika did with their latest report. The data they gathered is based on the ad impressions that they’ve recorded for the month of July, and as you can see in the graph above, it shows that Apple is clearly dominating with the iPhone as far as web traffic in North America is concerned.

In fact the numbers show that the iPhone accounts for more than half of web traffic in North America at 52.3%, although it is admittedly down by 0.2% from February. Coming in at second place is Samsung with 26.4%, an increase of 1.2% from February. LG comes in third place followed by Motorola, HTC, and Nokia. Interestingly enough it seems that brands you might not necessarily have expected, like ZTE and Alcatel, have managed to beat out BlackBerry.

While it does seem that Samsung is catching up, but if the analysts are right, Apple’s rumored larger-screen iPhone 6 handsets should allow Apple to maintain their lead, if not pull ahead of the competition upon its release. In the meantime what do you guys make of the figures? Do you agree with it?
