lumia-630We all know that the folks over at Microsoft are currently working through a massive layoff plan of 18,000 folks, which has seen some protests from Chinese employees. Not only that, it seems that Microsoft has already started to send out emails to its workers over at its facilities in China, where those who leave their positions on a voluntary basis will be able to pick up a brand new Nokia Lumia 630 smartphone – for free, of course.

This benefit will only come into action if one applies for Microsoft’s volunteer resignation package, and walk out the door on a willing basis. It seems that only up to 300 workers who are willing to go down this route will be eligible each day, and just in case you were wondering, the Nokia Lumia 630 would retail for somewhere in the realm of 800 Yuan (which is converted to $130). It will be given out based on a “first come, first serve” principle”.

So far, Microsoft has decided to leave a comment concerning this issue, and for those who feel that they are going to be part of the layoffs, one might have to make a crunch time decision sooner rather than later. However, some might see this to be an insult, as it might be somewhat akin to your soon-to-be ex-girlfriend leaving you, and yet giving you her favorite coffee mug or something that will remind you of her every single day.
