lenovo-smartbandThe world of wearable technology is fast expanding in every direction, although it remains to be seen just how far gizmos like a smartwatch or fitness band will be able to go. Lenovo, a name that is more often than not associated with computers and notebooks (not to mention smartphones, too), is now linked to a potential wearable band, where it is called the Lenovo Smartband SW-B100. In fact, the Smartband SW-B100 is said to have shown up at the Bluetooth SIG website not too long ago, where it is known as an activity tracker.

Purists would loathe calling this a smartwatch, so don’t do so in their presence. It remains to be seen just what other kinds of hardware or capabilities that the Lenovo Smartband SW-B100 will be able to bring to the table, although we do know that this activity tracker will arrive with an optical heart rate monitor and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity in order for it to synchronize with your smartphone or compatible device. Do you think such a wearable device will be able to capture the attention of the masses when it arrives, or will it simply be cast aside in the bigger scheme of things? Hopefully Lenovo will step up to the stage and share more about it at IFA 2014 in Berlin, Germany.
