mailbox-desktop

One of the most popular email applications that has been around for quite a while on mobile devices have finally landed on desktop. Acquired by Dropbox last year this email app has seen a meteoric rise. Today Mailbox for desktop has been released and it features more or less similar gesture based controls that users have come to love on iOS and Android.

Like its mobile apps, Mailbox for desktop also learns from the user’s habits and predicts based on their interactions with individual emails. Their preferences are then sent up to the cloud courtesy of Dropbox so that these settings and behaviors are synchronized across all devices on which that particular Mailbox account is used.

Mailbox now also includes a feature that many users have been tirelessly asking for. The ability to create drafts. Right now the feature is available on Mailbox for iOS and desktop, soon it will land on the Android app as well. The drafts feature has been missing for the Mailbox application up till now.

Dropbox first revealed back in April this year that it was working on a desktop version of the popular email application, it has followed through on that promise now. However the desktop app is currently in beta stage and will only be available to those who have used its mobile apps in the past. Eventually the beta will be rolled out to more users in the near future.
