psn-hacked-again

Sony has announced today that it has rescheduled planned PlayStation Network maintenance to Thursday, August 28th. As a result PSN will be down for more than 12 hours between 16:00 and 05:00 BST. During this time it will not be possible to login to Account Management as well as the PlayStation Store. The PS Home will not be available as well tomorrow.

The question PlayStation owners will be asking right now is that will they be able to play games online during the time that PlayStation Network is offline. Its possible that they might be locked out for greater than what Sony estimates since the company says there might be additional downtime once the maintenance period ends for testing periods.

However there’s a silver lining here as well. Those who have successfully signed in to their account on a PlayStation 4 or within the last five days on any other PlayStation device, they should be able to stay connected and thus their online session will not be lost during the time Sony is conducting maintenance.

Previously this maintenance was scheduled for Monday however the company’s plans had to be changed because the PlayStation Network came under a DDoS attack. Fortunately it wasn’t a repeat of the horrific 2011 episode, no user data was compromised during the attack.
