We all know that Samsung has upped the ante with their Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship smartphone, bringing along with it waterproof capability. Of course, claims will remain as just that – claims, until they are substantiated by the end user, who would then make for the best tech evangelists out there. A bunch of folks decided that it was too good to pass up on the opportunity to test out the waterproof capability of the Samsung Galaxy S5 to the maximum, where you can see for yourself in the video above.

Basically, they put the Samsung Galaxy S5 through the paces – so much so that it managed to “enjoy” a session in a washing machine to boot, now how about that? From dropping the flagship smartphone at a swimming pool’s shallow end and resting there for an hour or so, the Galaxy S5 continued to function without missing a beat, which is surprising to say the least. There was an issue with the display though, it did not respond too well to touch due to water droplets covering it, but that is a temporary problem that is easily fixed.

The next time you wash your jeans, you can also send your Galaxy S5 for a “bath” – as evident by this smartphone ending up in the pocket of a pair of jeans, going through a 50 minute cycle. Some water leaked inside the rear shell, but after leaving it out to dry, it worked as expected. I am quite sure that a hot wash cycle would have seen different test results, and what about the kind of detergent used? All in all, the Galaxy S5 is one tough cookie.
