sony-xperia-z2-tablet-miniEvery decent modern day device that rolls out deserves to have at least one other rival to spur it on. Many have tried to go up against the mighty iPad as well as its smaller rival, the iPad mini, but it has been rather difficult to find a rival worthy of the iPad. Sony might have something up their sleeves which is worth checking out – which is the alleged Sony Z3 Tablet Compact.

This particular device is said to follow in the footsteps of its predecessor, that is, to feature waterproof capability. Apart from that, it is also a solid tablet on its own, but we will not really know until we find out at the IFA trade show that is happening early next month in Berlin, Germany.

Apparently, an extremely trusted source that has some decent history when it comes to leaks that are related to Sony, claimed that the Sony Z3 Tablet Compact will arrive with a MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset, 3GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory, an 8” Full HD (1920x1080px) IPS LCD display, an 8MP Exmor RS camera at the back, 4G LTE connectivity, NFC support, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, and a battery that should remain somewhere in the 4,500 to 5,000mAh capacity. Oh yeah, throw in water and dust resistance, and you’ve got quite a winner here.
