uber-corner-store

There is no shortage of services that allow users to order products they use daily from the comfort of their computer of mobile device. Amazon has one, and so does Google. The latest contender in this space in Uber, an on-demand ridesharing service that has expanded exponentially over the past couple of years. The new service is called Corner Store and its being run as an experiment for a limited time only in Washington, DC.

Users within the supported area will be able to order products from a list that includes over 100 different items. The service can be accessed through Uber’s app. If a driver is available users will then receive a text message with a link to items that are available for purchase.

The driver will be dispatched and make a call before arriving to the user’s location to take the order. Once the driver arrives the order has to be confirmed in person. Users don’t have to worry about paying a service fee or tipping the driver after the products are fetched.

Starting today Uber Corner Store will be available from Monday to Friday between 9am – 9pm EDT in Washington DC. Uber says that it will work to build supply as well as increase hours of operation to include weekend and late night orders.

The entire inventory list can be viewed on the company’s website, which includes the size of each item and unit price. All orders will be charged to the Uber account so the entire transaction will be cashless from order to delivery.
