xolo-hiveThe XOLO 8X-1000 has just become official over in India, and make no mistake about it – it packs quite a fair amount of punch underneath the hood. For starters, you get a 5” 720p display with 294ppi pixel resolution, where it is accompanied by an 8MP Sony Exmor R camera with f/2.0 aperture, an octa-core 1.4 GHz Mediatek MT6592M processor alongside a quad-core Mali-450MP4 graphics chip. In addition, there will be 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory which can be further augmented thanks to a microSD memory card slot which can further extend it to another 32GB.

Apart from that, a 1,920 mAh battery will keep the XOLO 8X-1000 running throughout the day, sporting a durable front glass panel that is made out of ASAHI Dragontrail glass, with the back covered in Corning’s Gorilla Glass.

Not only that, there is also the HIVE OS which will be based upon Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat as the mobile operating system of choice, and XOLO claims that the user interface is “Made in India, Made for India”, which means it will be able to deliver its fair share of unique aspects. For starters, HIVE would open up customer access so that users end up as part of the developer community, where they can then share their ideas. Ideas that get the highest number of votes will then be implemented whenever possible, and sent out as an over-the-air update. The asking price? 170 Euros, unlocked.
