Smart light bulbs aren’t exactly new and companies such as Philips with their Hue light bulbs are probably some of the more well-known devices out there in the market at the moment. However if you’re looking for alternatives, you might be interested to learn that the folks at Stack Lighting have recently unveiled a smart LED bulb of their own called the Alba light.

So what so special about the Alba, you ask? Well according to the folks at Stack Lighting, it’s a smart light bulb because it will be able to adjust itself based on your behavior. According to its description, “Alba is the world’s first responsive light bulb that has embedded sensors that allow it to automatically maintain the right level of light, adjust it’s color temperature to the location and time of day, sense occupancy and learn what you want.”

For those who haven’t really paid attention to their light colors, you would be surprised to learn that it is very important as different light colors can affect the mood of the room. For example yellow light tends to project a warmer feel while white light tends to be brighter and might be more suited for studying, although this really boils down to personal preference at the end of the day.

That being said, the Alba light is not cheap and the company is currently selling its Starter Kit for $150. This will include a hub and two light bulbs, and if you want to add the Beacon for proximity detection, it will set you back an additional $20. The company expects to begin shipping their products in Q1 2015, so if you’d like to learn more or place your pre-order, head on over to their website for the details.
