It looks as though the very first 8” Windows-powered tablet from ASUS which was released earlier this year ran on an Intel Atom processor, and it was accompanied by a digital pen which could be used for writing and drawing purposes, thanks to its pressure-sensitive input. It did come with a $330 price tag of course, and there are always better bargains out there in the market. The thing is, if you have set your eyes on the VivoTab Note 8, but do not want the digital pen support, what do you do? Enter the new ASUS VivoTab 8 (M81C).

On the surface, the VivoTab 8 looks pretty much the same as the release that happened earlier this year, but this is a brand new 8” Windows-powered tablet that comes with an Intel Atom Bay Trail processor, and it will also ditch the digital pen support as well as other features, which means it ought to be more budget friendly than ever before.

Other hardwares specifications for the VivoTab 8 include 2GB RAM, just 32GB of internal memory (which can be further expanded via microSD), and a choice of either 1GB or 2GB of RAM. For those who would like to snap photos with their tablets, this model will sport a 2MP front facing shooter, with another of a similar resolution behind. Expect to pick it up in black, white, purple, or gold shades.
