powershot gx7 x_1It looks like not only did Canon announce their latest DSLR in the form of the EOS 7D MK II today, but it seems that they have three new PowerShot cameras for those who are looking to take photos but not necessarily in a bigger package, and also possibly at a much more affordable price as well.

The company has since announced the PowerShot G7 X, the PowerShot SX60 HS, and the PowerShot N2. Starting with the PowerShot G7 X, this is a compact camera that will feature a 1-inch 20.2MP CMOS sensor. The 1-inch sensor alone makes it comparable, at least on paper, to Sony’s RX100-series of cameras which are the first compact cameras to feature sensor of that size.

The camera will feature a 24-100mm lens and will be powered by Canon’s DIGIC 6 processor. It also sports an aperture of f/1.8 at the widest and f/2.8 at max extension which would trump the RX100 III’s 24-70mm lens. It will also feature a touch LCD display, a 31-point AF system, built-in WiFi, NFC connectivity, and can also capture video in Full HD. It will be priced at $699.99 and will be available in October.

powershot sx60_1Next up is the PowerShot SX60 HS. This camera is aimed at photographers who are looking for a small-ish camera with a long zoom lens. In this case Canon has equipped it with a 21-1365mm optical zoom lens and will also come with optical image stabilization which should help produce steadier images at max zoom. The camera will also be powered by Canon’s DIGIC 6 processor and will come with a 16.1MP CMOS sensor under the hood.

Just like the PowerShot G7 X, the SX60 HS will come with built-in WiFi and NFC that will allow photographers to transfer their photos wirelessly. Priced at $549.99, the PowerShot SX60 HS will also be available in October.

Last but not least is the PowerShot N2. This is Canon’s most basic and cheapest camera out of the trio.  It will come with a 16.1 CMOS sensor and a 28-224mm optical zoom lens. It will also be powered by Canon’s DIGIC 6 processor and will also include WiFi and NFC connectivity options. The camera will also come with Creative Shot mode and a 2.8-inch 180-degree tilting LCD display. It will be priced at $299.99 and will be available in black and white in December.
