ryseA few days ago, Ryse: Son of Rome’s PC release date was confirmed thanks to a listing on the Steam page. Along with the listing was the hardware specs that gamers were required to have in order to run the game. Now if you checked out the specs back then, you might have been shocked as it was a little high.

Well Crytek has since updated the product page and introduced some lower hardware requirements to its recommended system requirements list. It turns out that the original listing was for someone who wanted to run the game in 4k resolution, so now Crytek has introduced three different requirements depending what you’re trying to achieve.

According to Crytek, “Since there was some initial confusion about the System Requirements (as we originally posted the specs needed for 4k as recommended on the Store page), we wanted to give you a bit more insight into the system requirements to run the game and some examples of fitting CPUs and GPUs in the three categories.”

The recommended specs have since been changed to a quad or six-core CPU like the Intel Core i5  3.3GHz or the AMD FX-6350 at 3.9GHz. It is also calling for 8GB of RAM, a GPU with 2GB of VRAM like the NVIDIA GTX 660Ti or the AMD Radeo 260x or 7850. This is compared to the 4k requirements which calls for a quad or octa-core CPU, a GPU with 4GB of VRAM like the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780/Titan or the AMD Radeon 290x.
