hearthstone-playedHearthstone is Blizzard’s latest video game. It is also a replacement of sorts to the Warcraft trading card game, except that unlike the trading card game which is physical, Hearthstone is completely digital. It is also free to play where gamers can earn gold to buy booster packs, or pay real money if they’d rather not farm for it.

However it seems that over in China, someone has been enterprising enough to create a physical version of Hearthstone. It basically plays the same way as the digital one, except that you will now be able to hold real cards instead. There will be counters and tokens used to represent your life and your summoned minions, but other than that it is exactly the same.

In fact they even created a backdrop for the game which mimics the board in the digital version. It seems that they are also selling the physical version of the game on Taobao for around $50. However the game was released before the Curse of Naxxramas expansion, so gamers will not have access to the new cards and mechanics.

In case it wasn’t obvious, this physical version has absolutely nothing to do with Blizzard in the official and legal sense. We’re not sure why Blizzard hasn’t taken action yet, or maybe they’re considering it, but like we said, it is a pretty enterprising idea. What do you guys think? Would you prefer a physical version of Hearthstone, or do you think digital was the right choice?
