Intel_Smart_BowlEarlier this year at CES 2014, Intel unveiled an interesting looking device which was a bowl that offered wireless charging. It was a unique idea since instead of finding an outlet to charge our phones or devices, we can just drop it into the bowl, much like you would with your set of keys and wallet when you get home.

Well the good news is that the concept of the wireless charging bowl was so well-received that Intel has decided to make it a reality. This was announced by Intel’s CEO Brian Krzanich who spoke at the MakerCon conference in New York on Thursday. According to Krzanich, he expects that the device should be released by the holiday season.

Unfortunately he did not mention how much it would cost, but hopefully it will be a reasonable amount of money and not too expensive. It is also unclear if Intel themselves will be making it or if they would source it out to another manufacturer. However according to CNET, it seems that one of Intel’s chip customers will be making the bowl a reality, although we’re not sure if that is the same device Krzanich announced or if it will be a different product.

In any case we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for it, so if you own several devices that can be charged wirelessly and wouldn’t mind getting your hands on the device, do check back with us at a later date for additional details.
