health appA few months ago at WWDC, Apple announced iOS 8 and part of the platform’s new features and services was HealthKit. For those unfamiliar with HealthKit, it’s basically a framework for iOS 8 that allows apps to provide and share their health-related data with the Health app, thus aggregating all your vital stats into a single app.

That being said, it seems that Apple could have more to share with us about HealthKit and their partners because according to a report from the Star Tribune, the Mayo Clinic is reported to be at Apple’s event later today where they will provide demonstrations as to the advantages of the HealthKit framework and how it might apply to the Health app.

Given that the Mayo Clinic was one of the first partners of the HealthKit framework, we guess this makes sense. We are also assuming that by demonstrating its use, it would clear any confusion users might have regarding the framework and the Health app, as well as let developers see the potential usefulness of it.

According to the rumors, Apple is also said to be debuting the iWatch which is said to have health-related features, so it will also be interesting to see how such a device could potentially play nice with HealthKit and the Health app. Either way do check back with us later today for all the official details.
