Samsung-gear-live-remind-02One of the features of the Apple Watch is that its users will be able to make purchases with it using the Apple Pay feature. This is something offered by Apple’s wearables that other companies have not included yet. However it seems that Samsung could be following in Apple’s footsteps in the future.

According to a report from Business Korea (via Pocketnow), they have quoted an unidentified Samsung executive who claims that they are working on a new smartwatch that will allow users to make mobile payments. However they will be taking it one step further by integrating fingerprint authentication, thus making it more secure.

As it stands, the Apple Watch will authenticate its wearer by using the sensors on the underside of the watch. As long as the watch remains in contact with the wearer’s skin, it assumes that the wearer still has it on and will allow mobile payments. However once it is removed, users will have to log in again to re-authenticate themselves.

The exec also claims that the upcoming smartwatch from Samsung is expected to debut as early as MWC 2015, which could possibly beat out Apple in terms of its release. The Apple Watch is currently pegged for a release in 2015 although no specific dates have been mentioned yet.
