Nintendo is a gaming company that is well known for their strength in first party franchises, where nearly every single title that they roll out do end up at the top of the sales charts – and for a long time to come. They completely dominated the home console scene with the Nintendo Entertainment System (aka NES) back in the 1980s and early 1990s, and we are thankful for the contribution to millions of pleasant childhood memories over the years. However, not everyone is perfect, and for this we are grateful that Nintendo did not follow through on one of the name suggestions for the “third pillar” Nintendo DS, where it could have been called the “City Boy”.

This is definitely not a name that would have resonated well with many people out there, I believe. City Boy? That would certainly alienate a whole bunch of other people elsewhere, taking into consideration how Nintendo DS simply sounds so much cooler, not to mention it sends the right message across – by this being the Nintendo Dual Screen. Are you thankful to your lucky stars that you are not playing with a Nintendo 3D City Boy at the moment? At least it shows that the company has grown up from being a boy after all these years.
