lumia 920 fireUsually when we hear about phones catching on fire while being charged, the end result is a phone that is no longer working. After all we reckon most electronics would susceptible to fire damage, but oddly enough a report out of Brazil (via PhoneArena) claims that a man’s Nokia Lumia 920 had caught on fire while being charged, and despite the burn damage, the phone continues to function!

According to the owner of the phone, not only does his phone still work, but apparently it is still capable of being recharged as well, which we have to admit is very odd. Now we know all the internet memes and jokes about Nokia phones being extremely durable, but we reckon this is probably taking it to the next level, assuming that his claims are true.

Now Fabricio, the owner of the phone, is a little upset at Nokia. He attempted to take the phone back to Nokia but due to the fact that his warranty expired two months ago, Nokia refused to repair it for free. While this is understandable, Fabricio’s anger stems from the fact that Nokia was willing to give a Samsung user a new phone, but aren’t willing to take care of an existing customer.

Fabricio has since vowed that his next phone will be of the Android variety, and not one of Nokia/Microsoft’s Windows Phone handsets. In any case what do you guys think? Should Nokia/Microsoft repair or replace his damaged phone for free?
