iphone 6 photoWith the release of iOS 8 and the iPhone 6, Apple has definitely worked on improving the camera on both the hardware and software front. So far initial reviews of the new iPhones have praised the camera in terms of both features and performance, but if you’re wondering just how well the camera can perform, you might want to check out photographer Austin Mann’s review.

Mann is a professional photographer and has had his work make its way into National Geographic and the Travel Channel, and to prove just how good Apple’s new cameras are, he took both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus with him on a trip to Finland in a partnership with The Verge.

iphone 6 photo 2During his review, Mann highlighted some of the iPhone 6’s new camera features, like the focus pixels, exposure control, time lapse, AE/AF lock, and more. As you can see in the image above, the results are pretty stunning. It also seems that for the most part, the new optics in the iPhone 6 have managed to produce better and sharper photos compared to the iPhone 5s.

Of course some of the photos have been edited in photography apps but the potential is there. We guess this also highlights how important composition is and understanding your camera’s controls. We’re pretty sure the same effects could be achieved using other high-end smartphones, but for now if you’re interested in how the iPhone 6’s camera performs, then this should give you a pretty good idea.
