radinnWakeboarding might look like it is a bundle of fun, but do bear in mind that there is a minimum of one limiting factor which you might want to take into consideration – someone out there is required to pilot the boat if you hit the water. Swedish entrepreneurs Alexander Lind and Philip Werner hope to eliminate that side of the sport, and their collective thought processes have resulted in the Radinn electric wakeboard.

The Radinn electric wakeboard does not offer the ability the create a wake in the waves so that you will be able to perform tricks, but it does have the ability to let you go out whenever you feel like it – since there is no longer a need for a boat.

It remains as a working prototype as at press time, sporting a tough carbon fiber body, a salt water-resistant jet propulsion system, and will run off a lithium battery pack. This particular battery pack is located within a watertight compartment, where it can be removed once you’re done for easy charging. Apart from that, you might want to opt to have an extra battery standing by at the beach, since you would not want to end the fun too soon after spending so much time arriving at the beach in the first place. The entire shebang, battery included, is estimated to weigh at around 29 kg.

A wireless waterproof handheld remote controls your speed, letting you zip along at up to 25 knots (29 mph or 46 km/h), although it seems that the final commercial version will be able to touch a higher speed. A full battery charge is said to last for up to an hour at mixed speeds.
