samsung-galaxy-s3-review-411-640x426The Samsung Galaxy S3 is truly a breakout smartphone, and it seems that as the former flagship ages with the passing passage of time, there is less and less attention heaped on it by Samsung. While we hear of the South Korean E210S model of the Samsung Galaxy S3 picking up an Android 4.4.4 KitKat update recently, it seems as though the i9300 variant, which is the international model, has been left high and dry sans a similar update. Well, leave it to fanboys of the Galaxy S3 i9300 to come up with such an update on their own.

There is one very good reason as to why the Galaxy S3 i9300 was not on the receiving end of an Android 4.4.4 update – limitation in its hardware. After all, the international Galaxy S3 model came with just 1GB RAM, whereas the South Korean variant sported double the amount of RAM in addition to LTE connectivity, which do go a long way in making the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update possible.

XDA Senior Member arter97 alongside his team successfully assembled an unofficial ROM within hours, and do bear in mind that this ROM has its fair share of bugs considering how it remains in the early stage of development. Hopefully Galaxy S3 i9300 owners will be able to enjoy a fully working version of Android 4.4.4 KitKat sooner rather than later.
