Samsung is building up its portfolio of curved screens and the latest addition to that list is a 27-inch curved LED monitor, the SD590C. The company says that its engineers conducted “extensive research” to ascertain the optimal monitor curve radius which is why the monitor’s 4000R curvature provides wider field of view than flat 27-inch panels.

The company’s curved TVs are significantly larger in size but don’t think that your eyes won’t be able to perceive the curve on a 27-inch screen, keep in mind that the PC monitor is usually much close to your face than the TV, so it shouldn’t be that hard to pick up the curve on a screen that’s considerably small as opposed to Samsung’s big curved TVs.

Samsung also claims that the curved monitor will reduce “peripheral visual clutter” because the edges are close to the viewer’s eyes and don’t require them to shift focus often in order to view content at the far ends.

Samsung SD590C has surround sound audio onboard, 350-nit maximum brightness, 4ms response time and a 3000:1 response ratio. D-sub, DisplayPort and HDMI port is available on the monitor. It has a Game Mode which Samsung says “intelligently detects changes in scenes” to provide an improved experience during gameplay.

The SD590C 27-inch 1080p curved monitor will retail for $429.99 and is going to start shipping October 1st.
