Most of the time, we would not associate arcade machines with the beach – after all, water and electronics certainly do not mix well with one another. However, it does look as though there might be a revolutionary change that is about to happen – that is, Sega rolling out an arcade machine which will be controlled by shapes created in a box that is full of a special kind of sand. It sounds really weird, but basically, those who play with this unique arcade machine will be sculpting landscapes as well as objects that in turn are recognized by the device.

Following that, a detailed image will be projected on to the sand, where one is able to mark out the likes of water, greenery, and even wildlife. Surely you will be able to get a better idea through the viewing of this special arcade machine in the video as shown above. The grains of the sand will not end up sticking to your hands, and even better is, there is no need for any kind of liquid to get this going.

Talk about playing within a certain sandbox! It certainly changes the way things work, and introduces a paradigm shift. It seems, however, that Sega has no plans to introduce this sandbox game anywhere else outside of Japan, which is quite a bummer.
