ps4delay-lackofgamesIn terms of the console wars, it certainly looks like Sony is winning at the moment. The company has proudly announced how they have managed to sell millions upon millions of consoles, versus Microsoft who seems to have only announced shipping numbers, which as we have pointed out in the past, are very different numbers altogether.

However both consoles are barely a year old which means there is still plenty of time and plenty of games that could shift the scales in either side’s favor, but according to one analyst Eiichi Katayama, he seems to believe that Sony will most likely end up being the one dominating the console space.

This is according to a report from The Wall Street Journal (paywall, via Forbes) in which Katayama was quoted as saying, “Sony has the potential to make the game console market its exclusive territory.” So far it doesn’t seem that he is wrong. After all Sony got off to a great start with the PlayStation 4 in which they priced it $100 cheaper than the Xbox One.

In the meantime it took Microsoft months before they decided to follow suit, which unfortunately allowed Sony to gain an even bigger lead. Sony also managed to secure some exclusives with Bungie for the Destiny game, which was one of the bigger launches of 2014 and which according to recent reports helped spike hardware sales as well.

Of course it remains to be seen if Sony will be able to maintain their lead or if Microsoft or even Nintendo might come up with something that will shift the spotlight away from them, but in the meantime what do you guys think? Will Sony win the console wars in the long-term?
