Google is tipped to carry out an event in India later this week, the country with the world’s second largest population, and it is rumored that the Internet search giant could very well roll out the first of its Android One-powered smartphones to the world. So far, we do know that the more obscure handset manufacturers (relatively speaking, of course) will include the likes of Spice, Micromax, and Karbonn, and they intend to deliver highly affordable handsets that have a decent build quality as well as constant software updates that hail directly from Google. The Spice Dream UNO could be the first of such Android One smartphones to be unveiled later this week.
Online store Flipkart revealed things before their intended time, it seems, as the company did put up a product page that depicts the Spice Dream UNO. While the gaffe has been discovered and the page subsequently removed, some websites have managed to grab hold of the screenshot, and from what we have gathered, the Spice Dream UNO will arrive with a 4.5” display at 854 x 480 pixel resolution, 1GB RAM, 4GB of internal memory, a quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek processor, a microSD memory card slot, a 5MP camera at the back that is equipped with flash, and a 2MP front-facing camera, alongside dual-SIM support. A 1,700mAH battery keeps the device juiced up, and it does seem to sport an equivalent price tag of $115.
