Valve announced today that its digital distribution platform called Steam has passed a major milestone. The platform now boasts over 100 million “active” users, it crossed this mark earlier in the week. Valve last provided an update on the numbers back in January. Since then the digital distribution platform has added more than 25 million customers and now has over 3,700 unique titles in its library.

In order to commemorate this milestone Valve has unveiled something called the Steam Discovery Update. Basically its a major revamp of the Steam Store with emphasis on game discovery. The latest update for Steam Store brings certain tools and features that aid the system in providing more personalized recommendations to customers and helps them find games they would be interested in.

The Steam Store now includes a Discovery Queue as well which is solely focused on game discovery. It is refreshed daily and includes recommendations to games that they system believes customers may like, from the queue they can add it to their wishlists, follow it or ignore it to tell the system that they’re not interested in that particular type of game.

Even though Valve has announced that Steam now has over 100 million active users, it doesn’t define the yardstick by which it judges an “active” user, so its hard to say how many of those users are really active on Steam.
