uberEarlier this month, we did bring you word on how Uber has been banned in Germany – not only in a particular city or province, but rather, throughout the entire length and breadth of the country. Well, it looks like Uber might be able to take in a breath of fresh air for the moment, as the German court has lifted a temporary injunction against Uber. This temporary injunction against Uber prevents the company from operating in Germany, and it looks like this move will not go down too well with the taxi drivers who filed for legal action to be taken against the U.S. company.

In the Frankfurt Regional Court earlier today, it ruled that the San Francisco-based startup can still provide its online taxi service via the Uber Pop smartphone app. According to Judge Frowin Kurth, his opening remarks pointed to the belief that the temporary injunction was “still valid”, however, it was said that the expedited procedures, (and subsequently, the temporary injunction against Uber) were unnecessary as requested on behalf of the complainants.

It is hence not surprising to hear that the Taxi Deutschland will appeal to the higher regional court upon hearing of this decision. Taxi Deutschland chairman Deiter Schlenker mentioned, “We cannot understand this decision.” What do you think the final outcome will be in Germany?
