Verizon has long carried the Droid lineup which contains some of the best selling smartphones on Big Red. If latest reports are to be believed then it appears that Verizon and Motorola are joining forces yet again to bring another Droid device to the market. This particular smartphone will reportedly be released next month and one of its main features would be rapid charging.

Citing people familiar with the launch plans, CNET reports that the exact release date has not been determined as of now but Verizon is aiming for an October launch. The device will be put together by Motorola Mobility as it has exclusive rights to build smartphones for the Droid lineup.

Long battery life has been a major selling point of the Droid lineup and that will be complemented by the rapid charging feature which will supposedly be in the new Droid. However it is said that instead of launching three new Droid devices as it has in the past, Motorola will only be working and launching one single device.

It merits mentioning here that earlier this month Verizon itself teased the possible launch of a new Droid through the official @DroidLanding account, it wrote “Reactivation fast approaching, wait and see.” A few days back another tweet from the same account read “Faster charging is a big deal. That’s why we made it a bigger deal. #waitforit.”

Motorola has declined to comment on this report and Verizon hasn’t made any confirmations as yet. Specifications, features and even the official moniker are not known at this point in time.
