xperia-z3-launcher-port-1

At the IFA 2014 trade show in Berlin Sony showed off its new flagship smartphone, one that we had already heard many things about. The Sony Xperia Z3 is the company’s latest smartphone and not only does it bring hardware improvements, Sony has also updated the software side of things on its flagship. The stock launcher included in the new smartphone is quite different than the ones on Sony’s older Xperia devices. If you’re itching to try it out worry not, the Xperia Z3 launcher port has been released for other Xperia devices.

Sony’s new launcher that debuts with the Xperia Z3 is actually quite similar to the Google Now launcher. The larger app icons and the overall design makes it seem like it was inspired by Google’s launcher.

Two different versions of the Xperia Z3 launcher port have been released. There’s one for Xperia devices that have not been rooted, however transparent system user interface, stock widgets and the navbar for older Android versions might not been supported in this port. The other port is for rooted Xperia devices and should work like its supposed to.

Both Xperia Z3 launcher ports come courtesy of the folks at XDA developers forum. The download files and relevant instructions are available here.
